To trim left end in the Chromatogram Editor select the next symbol after trimming part and use Ctrl+Shift+Backspace or Edit–>Trim left end context menu for switching the edit mode on.
After that the edit mode is switched off.
You always can cancel the changes pressing Ctrl+Z.
